Topic: How WannaCry Made the Health Care Industry Want to Cry: The New Reality of a Smarter Healthcare System

With the increase of technology in our Healthcare System, we have increased the surface of attack across the sector. We will look at how WannaCry caused chaos for one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK and take a glance at the reality of a smart healthcare system being a target for our adversaries.

 

Trevor is currently a Splunk Engineer and certified Splunk consultant for a Cyber Security startup called Qmulos. For the past two years he has been helping to solve complex security issues inside Civilian agencies as well as the DoD with Splunk. He currently serves as a Splunk Engineer for the Healthcare Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center inside the Department of Health and Human Services. Outside of work, he is a member of the DC Splunk users group and spends a lot of time testing in his home lab. He currently holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from The University of Findlay as well as an Associate’s degree in Web/Computer programming from Rhodes State College.
